The week begins with information from the bargaining team that they have been at the table last week and that they plan to keep negotiating this week. We hope that there is progress being made and hope that an update will be shared as soon as possible.
I am asking all members of the Local to follow these guidelines:
- be careful of spreading rumours that have no merit,
- demand your rights under the collective agreement,
- document your health and safety concerns,
- and work to the safest way under the standing orders.
The next week should be interesting, so please keep checking the OPSEU website and sites from the various locals.
In solidarity, Emidio.

I would like to know why the actors that have not stepped down are still members in good standing??? Can we not do something about this???? Can we not also start running things as per the standing orders to slow things down a little???? We should start having a little job action and show that we are a strong local.
Members have to vote for them to be in bad standing.
If you check the site we are in the action you have requested and it is up to everybody to get the point across.
A job action alone doesn't show strength, it is earned every day of the contract.
The government has openly admitted to Corrections negotiators this round they cannot manage the sick abuse, they have failed. They no longer wish to manage the sick time abuse and are throwing in the towel.
So they took a page out of the TORY manual and decided to PRIVATIZE our benefits. The Insurance carrier has said it is all or nothing because it must be profitable. They set the days and hours etc… it is all about the bottom line now.
Pretty disheartening that we have had our sick benefits privitized during Collective Bargaining and fed to us in a take it and burn out or quit.
That is how much my employer thinks of me, my family and my job.
Pitiful
